The Day We Put Our Rationality in The Fridge!

Remember January 6, 2021. Yep, who would forget that chaos? What a nightmare it was! I will not talk about what happened or discuss it at any level; I am not the right person for these subjects, nor do I enjoy talking about them. However, why? I wonder if people sometimes do things that don’t make sense. Do things not even fix, build, or help? It destroys and demolishes. Well, it turns out that our ability to think clearly can be affected by “partisanship.” Let me explain it with a made-up story.

Imagine you’re taking a history test at work or school. The questions look almost the same, but one is about skin cream, and the other is about election laws. You’re really good at history, so you get the first question right. But when you get to the second question, even though the history question is precisely the same, you suddenly find it harder to solve.

Why is that? The second question concerns a topic that you might have strong feelings about, like election laws. Your beliefs about that topic can make it harder for you to think clearly and solve the problem correctly.
